Flight Exception Request | ORU Missions 2026

Flight Exception Request | ORU Missions 2026

Please read the following information carefully!

Attending the ORU Missions Debrief in Tulsa is a REQUIRED component for all ORU Missions students. Debriefing is a vital part of the discipleship process within the ORU Missions program. However, we recognize that certain life circumstances may make it necessary or beneficial for a student to travel to a location other than Tulsa following their trip.

Please note that, if approved, a flight exception will not change the total cost of your trip.

This form will close on Monday, February 16, at 5:00PM. After this deadline, our office will begin purchasing flights, and changes cannot be made.

Examples of flight exception requests that are typically approved include:
- Traveling directly home (only for international students whose ORU Missions trip is overseas)
- Remaining overseas with an immediate family member
- A work or internship start date that conflicts with debriefing

If your flight exception is approved, you will depart on the same day as your team and must travel to the airport with the team.
Example: If you are on Team Brazil Amazon and wish to fly directly home to Rio instead of returning to Tulsa, you must depart on the same day as the team.

Once you arrive at the airport and separate from your team, you assume all personal and financial responsibility for yourself. ORU Missions will no longer be responsible for you, including for travel costs (such as luggage or food) or travel delays.
Example: If you are on Team Bulgaria and plan to stay with a family member in England for the remainder of the summer, and your flight is delayed until the next day, you would be responsible for your own food and lodging.

ORU Missions will only purchase approved flights exceptions for the official team departure dates:
2-Week Teams: May 22 or 23 (depending on travel time)
3-Week Teams: May 29 or 30 (depending on travel time)

ORU Missions will not book or purchase return flights for any other dates.
Example: If you are on Team Kenya and plan to remain in the country for the summer for an internship, ORU Missions will not purchase your return flight, as it falls outside our official travel dates. ORU Missions would book your travel with the team as a one-way flight, and you would be responsible for purchasing your return flight at the conclusion of your internship.

ORU Missions is not responsible for booking or assisting with any flights outside of our official travel arrangements and will not book or assist with return flights back to campus at the end of the summer.

Submission of this form does not guarantee that a flight exception will be granted. By submitting and signing this form, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to all of the policies and procedures outlined above.
